Post 4:

Due to “delta variant” most hospitals in Michigan are now mandating the vaccine after months of promising they would be voluntary.

It appears, in this email, full FDA approval will be granted this fall. See attached image and highlighted area.

Post 4: The PCR Tests and being positive….

Yes. PCR tests are the gold standard for testing for Covid19 (or SARS-Cov-2). Several different ones are used. All are EUA. One of the newer ones is the Sophia2 and then the Accula. These has moved in to replace the initial swabs. Here is an image of the initial warning list on a + test from 2020:

Post 5: PCR tests, the new batch…

Sophia2. This one also tests for influenza at the same time.

Post 7: Anything else besides PCR tests?

Yes. When testing for Covid, a rule out for Flu A, Flu B and RSV are usually done at the same time or after. But even all that can come back negative. Other tests to confirm someone is Covid+ would be elevations in:

DDimer

CRP

Fibrinogen

Chest Xray and CT scans of Lung looking for Ground Glass Opacities

and lastly, Antibody testing.

@donnieofthedead I notice they don't seem to mention the the number of replication cycles the PCR should be set for.   High cycles result in false positives.  The test should not be the gold standard.

@echocharlie Yes.  Antigens are far more reliable.  Quantitative, not just qualitative.

@lloydmillerus120318 I got a NAAT rapid test preflight last month. This is nucleic amplification (not antigen ) but point of care as is the rapid antigen.  I haven't gotten the bill yet to see how it compares.
