There are a few things about Donnie Darko which relate to the present.

They just celebrated the 20th anniversary. Its release was affected by the proximity of 9/11/01, given the movie is based upon falling plane parts.

Here's what we have so far:

• Released 1/19/01  (1/19 = 9/11 reversed. 1/19/20 was the date Covid19 Patient Zero turns up in Seattle.)
• Donnie Darko..set in 88 (33 years ago)
• themes include burning money/ reset/ and a time traveler named donald. And Donald EXPOSES a pedo ring... led by one he calls the Antichrist.
• Movie DON'T LOOK UP, Netflix show DEBRI, and SPACE SWEEPERS reflect the theme of falling objects
• Plane parts fall in Colorado. Hit a house on 1300'th block of ELMWOOD (Elm Street= Freddy Kreuger/ Nightmare on Elm Street: a movie about sleepwalkers and lucid dreamers. Donnie Darko is a lucid dreamer and a sleepwalker, guided by FRANKIE, a skull-faced bunny. The bunny emphasizes time running out, a clear reference to Alice in Wonderland (a lucid dreamer), who was guided by a rabbit with a watch, insisting time was running out)  
• ELM St connects to the JFK assassination.
